Week One: At-Home Coffee

Hi everyone, welcome to my first blog post! For those of you who don't know me, my name is Maya Zielinski. I'm a junior Apparel Production & Merchandising major, and Social Media Marketing minor. I've dedicated this blog for my Social Media Marketing class to trying new coffee recipes and drink orders weekly, and giving my review on them. This is something that I naturally already do pretty often, and my friends are usually the people that encourage me to try new things, so I thought that turning this idea into a blog would be great!

For this week's post, I've decided on making a cup of iced coffee from home. I currently live in a sorority house, where we have a Keurig coffee machine with different K-Cups and sweetener add-ins for everyone to use. When I make coffee from home, my go-to recipie is to use a Dunkin Original Blend K-Cup and the Starbucks Caramel Macchiato creamer from Target. However, this time, I had not made my grocery run yet, so I used what we already had in the house.

I started by putting in my Dunkin K-Cup, and once the coffee was brewed, I added in lots of ice to turn it from hot to cold. I then used the High Meadow organic half & half, as well as one Sweet n' Low sugar packet (as shown in the photo below). When making my coffee, I always add just a little bit of whichever creamer, sweetener, milk, or sugar that I'm using that day at first, and then continue adding until I get the taste that I desire. This time, I started with the half & half, which is something that I've never used in a coffee before, and it's safe to say that it was not my favorite and I probably will not be using it again. Personally, I like my coffee's to be on the sweeter side, and the half & half provided little to no flavor. On the bright side, the Sweet n' Low packet saved the day and made the coffee exactly how I wanted it to taste.

For my overall rating of this week's drink, I would give it a 7/10. The coffee gets this rating because I feel that I've made much better at-home coffees in the past, and the Half n' Half did not help this drink, but in the end it tasted pretty good. Thank you for reading all about this week's beverage, and make sure to stay tuned for more new drink recipes and recommendations!

  2. I feel as if I need to follow this since I'm guilty of spending waaaay too much money on fast-food coffee every week. Might have to bookmark.
